Germany, the leading European Union (EU) country, is powerfulin manufacturing industry, and plays an important role in various domains of Sino-Eurocooperation, such as promoting Euro investment plan, and providing positivesupport to China’s “The Belt and Road Initiative”. With the rapid economic growthand frequent communication and exchanges between Germany and China, the demandfor talents who are proficient in German or have German culture background isincreasing. Therefore, more and more schools have integrated the Germanlanguage into its regular curriculum as a second foreign language.
In 2009, the German language program has been founded in Guangzhou Huamei International School (HMIS), and a specialized German classin Grade 4 was opened in 2013, which provides students with not only the opportunity to study German language, but also to learn German culture through diversified activities. In the September of 2016, we are planing to continue the German Language Featured Class in Secondary section, and it will also be the first secondary school German Featured program within Guangzhou.
On April 15th, 2016, it was our great honor having Ms.Liu Linrui (Director of Guangzhou Education Bureau Basic Education Division),Mr. Chen Shugen (Director of Public Relations Department & Foreign AffairsOffice) and Mr. Jörg Drenkelfort (DSD School Coordinator of Southern China) to have a discussion with us on Huamei School’s FeaturedGerman Language Class development. With the establishment ofGerman Language Classes, we believe that HMIS will become one of the most important German language talents’ cultivation base within southern China. The internationalization of Huamei School will be strengthened and more and more excellent students who are able to “adapt for the changing world, create abetter world” will be cultivated in the near future.
