Based on the Agreements with the Sister Schools, Huamei School has been carrying out the student exchange programs in recent years. Among which, some programs are conducted in winter or summer vacations, while the one with the Indonesian school, Frateran Catholic High School (FCHS) is implemented during school years. Both schools host students and teachers to attend a 2 weeks’ culture exchange program in the counterpart schools and the country.
Such exchange program aims to provide chances for students of both parties to be fully exposed to a different culture environment. Students are not only integrated with local and international students to study and live on campus, but also involved in traditional Chinese/Indonesian courses like Chinese Kong Fu, tea ceremony, calligraphy, cooking on the Chinese side and Batik Hand Drawing, “angklung” (Indonesian traditional ensemble), and traditional dance on the Indonesian side, and participate in outdoor activities and filed trips. The program provides a wonderful platform for students to experience different cultures in general, and education in particular.
In 2016 Winter and 2017 Spring the first HMIS-FCHS exchange program was successfully conducted with joint efforts from both schools and Yongchun Chinese Language Training Centre, Surabaya of Indonesia.
