GIA Assembly Grade 6 and Grade 1

On March 25th, Grade 6 &1 students of GIA held an wonderful assembly for the other GIA classes.

The topic for this assembly was ‘International Women’s day’. At first, Mr Meldrum and the 6th graders introduced the history of women’s month and then they set a couple of questions for the other GIA students. In the past, women did not have as many rights as men around the world. International Women’s Day is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women - while also marking a call to action for a more gender balanced world. Lots of students raised their hands actively and answered the questions correctly.

Then the 6th graders introduced 3 famous people in the world: Marie Curie,Viadmir Lenin,Ruth Bader Ginsburg. The reason why Marie Curie became famous is that she found the elements radium and polonium. She is the most famous for the radium which is used in X-rays today. The second important person is Vladimir Lenin. He named Woman’s Day in 1922 but changed the name to be Women’s Day in 1945.The third important person is Ruth Bader Ginsburg. She was born in 1933 and she impacted the world with her values and ambitions and set a good example for American culture.

We had a happy ending with the first graders’ song: Respect. They sang the song very well with lots of cute actions, which made the audiences laugh a lot. Everybody enjoyed the assembly and it was a great chance for the students to share their ideas together. Both the teachers and students did a great job in preparing everything for the assembly. All the students learned the spirit of GIA  about dignity, honor, respect and integrity  together and they had lots of fun there.
